This teacup is made from a very pale speckled stoneware. The blue glaze used on the inside is very runny, which causes a beautiful iris-like effect as it thickens in the base of the teacup, and the colour becomes paler.
These teacups are:
- Handthrown on the wheel
- Glazed in glossy white on the outside, and hand-painted iris blue glaze on the inside
- Made of slightly speckled high-fire stoneware clay
As these products are handmade, there will be some wabi-sabi elements of the making process - slightly different sizes between teacups and occasional glaze drips. Hopefully you will also find that these marks are what makes handmade ceramics unique and beautiful - rather than being mechanically identical.
